Eye Conditions and Treatment

Wrinkles are treated in the Oculoplastic & Reconstructive Surgery Service

Wrinkles

Wrinkles appear when the formation of new collagen and elastin is reduced. This is commonly caused by the aging process but can also be sped up by exposure to sunlight, smoking, emotional stress and diet. The process of aging interferes with the body’s ability to break down old skin. As elastic fibers are lost the skin begins to sag and wrinkle.
