I don't have health insurance. Do you offer any financial assistance?
The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System provides financial assistance for uninsured patients that meet certain requirements. The first step is to see if you qualify for any available programs that would cover your medical care.

I have a question about my bill. Who should I call?
For billing questions, please call 312.996.1000 or visit the account representatives available in the lobby of the Outpatient Care Center (OCC), 1801 W. Taylor, Chicago. Stop by Monday-Friday from 8:30AM-4:30PM and speak with a representative ready to answer your billing questions or to help you make a payment.

Can I pay my bill online?
Yes. Visit My UIHealth for online bill payment.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
You'll need an insurance referral from your primary care physician if you have an HMO insurance. If you don't have an HMO insurance, you won't need an "official" referral from a doctor to be seen. However, if you are being referred by a doctor, please make sure we have that information so we can keep your physician informed.
Who do I contact for information if I am an International Patient?
The Department of Ophthalmology provides specialized medical care to international patients. Please contact the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Faculty Practice at (312) 355-5220 to help you schedule your appointment and provide an estimate of the cost of services.
