Coronavirus (COVID-19) Guide for Eye Patients

At the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, your safety and health is our first concern.

Many of our patients have questions and concerns about their eye appointment. We want to share the steps we are taking to keep you safe and what to expect when you arrive for your appointment. We are committed to making your visit as safe, clean, comprehensive, and efficient as possible.

We are currently available for all of your eye care needs. You can make an appointment to see us in person or you may be a candidate for a visit by telephone or video conference (see Telehealth section below).

Here's what we're doing to keep you and our Healthcare Team safe:

Universal Masking

All patients, visitors, physicians and staff will wear masks at all times. If you do not bring a mask, we will provide one.

COVID-19 Screning

We are screening all patients, visitors, staff, and physicians entering our building, including temperature monitoring and completion of a verbal questionnaire.

Physical Distancing

Throughout the clinic, seating has been adjusted to keep 6 feet of distance and red Xs are on the floor throughout the building to mark a safe distance from others.

Enhanced Cleaning

We have increased cleaning of the entire building, especially high-touch surfaces like waiting room chairs. We have developed an extensive room cleaning and disinfection protocol which is executed between each patient appointment.

Visitor Policy
Visitor Policy ▼

Visitors are limited to one per patient and will not go with patients into the exam rooms unless determined to be absolutely necessary. Visitors will also be asked to wait in their vehicle if possible.

Telehealth ▼

Depending on the nature of your eye problem, you may be able to see a physician through a virtual Telehealth appointment while you remain at home. We are now offering Telehealth visits by phone or video conference. You can be assured of privacy - we have selected a HIPAA-compliant Telehealth system that protects your confidentiality and provides secure communication between you and your physician.

Please call our office so our team can determine if Telehealth is appropriate for your visit.
